This year has been a busy one for Kimba-Africa. We explored some new partnerships and have taken steps to formally assess the company’s sustainability status with a view to certification as a sustainable tourism company.
- 397 people in
- 67 guided tours to
- 5 Southern African countries (in alphabetical order):
- South Africa – of course!
We are partnering with R2N Events, the hosts of two boutique sporting events that happen in the mountains and valleys that surround McGregor, the winelands village out of which we operate.
Mountain biking is one of the fastest-growing sports and leisure activities in the world. The 2020 Ride2Nowhere will be its eighth iteration and draws riders from both Europe and Africa. We have designed two itineraries that embrace the three-day mountain bike event. Both start and end in Cape Town and include McGregor as well as opportunities to see the Big 5. One heads east from McGregor along the coast to watch whales and see the Garden Route. The other heads north and west to chase flowers and explore more rugged and interesting mountains. Both options are available as self-drive or guided tours. More information is available here and contact us if you are interested in these or other tours.
Kimba-Africa has a track record of developing bespoke itineraries for clients that are endorsed as Fairtrade. The majority of experiences, excursions and establishments included in these itineraries is certified by the Fairtrade organisation.
Contact us if we can design a Fairtrade tour for you and your group.
Consistent with the company’s values, Kimba-Africa is taking steps to be formally certified by Travelife as a sustainable travel company. We will be introducing our clients to tools for measuring their carbon footprint when they travel with us. We are also in the process of identifying a partner project to which they can contribute to buy carbon credits and offset greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
We are exploring a potential new European partnership, and as soon as we have news about this, we’ll let you know.
You are welcome to contact us if you have a special requirements and places that you’d like to visit in Southern Africa. We love taking our guests to meet people and to places that are on the roads less travelled – the real Africa.
Finally, we wish you everything of the best for the festive season and a happy and prosperous 2020.
